I was working at Tourism NSW when Sydney hosted the Olympic Games in 2000. It was a blast. And with the Gay Games coming to Sydney in 2002, it was pretty clear our LGBTI visitors would need some local insights. So I left Tourism NSW to establish a start-up travel publishing company called Gay Travel Guides.
Our first publication was a free travel magazine called Gay Australia Guide. It was a full colour, quarterly publication. Audited circulation: 64,000 per edition. Here's the Best of Gay Australia (edition 9).
We also produced the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Visitors' Guide, and LGBTI travel guides to Tasmania, Queensland, New Zealand, the USA, and Europe.
